Today Betty could not join us for our day trip, so just Ikumi and I travelled to Lausanne to hang out and explore before coming back to Bern to watch the World Cup Final.

Lausanne is a city towards Geneva, so it is in the French part of Switzerland. As our train got closer, it began to speak French instead of German.

The first thing we did in Luzanne was to check out this big old cathedral. Because Lausanne is built on a steep ass hill, this was the best shot I got of it:

The inside was really neat!

Here’s what a Bible looks like:

There were also plenty of really neat stained glass action showing Jesus doing stuff .

Also a dead person:

It truly was amazing, and I bet it was hard to make people build such an extravagant structure in the 1300s. I think it was typical for these types of cathedrals to take over 100 years to build. Should have gone with the ole pyramid shape…food for thought.

There were also some great views of the city from the cathedral:

We walked around a bit more and found this castle thing we weren’t allowed in:

As well as Lady Justice:

We turned our walk to the South to check out the lake. On the way, we found the Olympic Museum. Apparently, the Olympic committee meets here, I guess, and decides things like how many men over 26 can play on a soccer team, and which country should waste money every 4 years by holding these ridiculous nationalist events. Nawww, I’m kidding, the Olympics are dope.

This museum had a bunch of statues of athletes, some with penises and some without. We didn’t take many pictures of those.

Here are some bikers:

And some other super heroes:

And I guess a totem pole?

Here’s the alien from the movie “Annihilation” pretending to be a fencer:

It was a pretty cool looking place, but we didn’t really have time to check it all the way out…so if it actually sucks, don’t blame us.

We then went to the spot on the lake known as “Ouchy”. I bet you can guess how we pronounced that one.

At Ouchy, the townspeople were out and about, eating and being merry.

The lake really was gorgeous! That’s France over there.

We could have swam to France if we had more time…and were Olympic swimmers. If we had studied at the museum, maybe we could have made it.

Here is a map of the walk. We snapped a couple more gems on the way back to the train station.

We hopped back on the train to race back in time to watch the France Croatia game. Betty took us to this sweet spot outside to watch the game.

It was quite a nice time! However, I am going to be recovering for a little bit from the smoke inhalation. One thing I haven’t mentioned yet is that Europeans apparently like to smoke. A lot. Especially the youngins. Guess they ain’t got the message that it ain’t super great for you. Much better to drink beer instead!

Anyway, game was fun and the French people were quite happy! Here is what the setup looked liked:

It was also funny during the awards ceremony after the game. Macron and the prime minister of Croatia (no, I don’t know her name, sorry…neither do you) walked on the stage and everyone cheered! Then they cut to a shot of ole Vlad and everyone booed. Gooooooood shit. I doubt Trump is gonna boo Putin when he sees him tomorrow…yeah…

After the game we made some dinner and now we are just kicking it watching a movie. Tomorrow is France! Make sure you watch the tour de France coverage tomorrow on the rest day so you can get all caught up! Then look for us on TV on Tuesday.
