If you know me, you know I’m always looking to see wildlife, and, if possible, capture that wildlife on camera. One day, when I can’t walk good no more, I’ll just make documentary after documentary of all this footage I’ve taken and received by some of you over the years. I’ve even started sorting it!
Anyway, first off is a video of some of the wildlife we saw. Obviously there isn’t room for a lot of wildlife in Europe, as they ran out of space long ago, but there are plenty of cool hawks. Hopefully next time we’ll see a Sham Wow or an Ibex. The coolest thing we saw was a red kite. I hadn’t seen that bird before.
Some other closing remarks I’ll make is that the Swiss are definitely racist, and have some serious institutional racism. I won’t get into on this blog, but just something to keep in mind. All of us should still be working to be anti-racist.
Another thing I’ll say is I definitely need to take a day in the middle of a vacation/adventure to just take a break and do nothing. A new country can be extremely overstimulating, and if you keep going out to try to pack in as much stuff in a single day, you’re going to get tired. This probably sounds like common sense to some, but I still need to learn it.
It’s also good to practice the language. I didn’t quite do as much prep as I should have, but you might as well go there and speak at people in their language. You’re going to have to switch to English eventually anyway, but practice is good.
Finally, ~Borat voice~ my wife is EXTREMELY great to travel with. She figures out so much stuff ahead of time, so if we ever need to audible, we always know what we can do next. Also, getting the Swiss Passes ahead of time means you can just get up and travel whenever you need to. It’s expensive, but it sure seems worth it.
