Today ended up being mostly a mountain biking day. We were getting our money’s worth! Especially since we kept riding them straight into the mud on wet AF days…

After another tasty breakfast, I loaded up on Scottish Gatorade and did a solo trek. First I rode over the fire road that we did a few days ago, then I went to explore this Iron Age fort. Well, nobody told me the descent from this fort was essentially STRAIGHT down, so I basically spent my entire ride riding up hills and then very carefully smashing the brakes going downhill. Still, not a bad ride!

Here are some photos:

That wall right there is the fort. You can tell by the way it is.

After I got back, Wife and I went for another ride that turned into more of a hike-a-bike, but it was still fun to ride around this rocky peninsula with the Highland cattle.

Here are some photos from that one:

And here is a little video to summarize all that!

After we showered and dried off because yes, it was still raining all the time, we headed back to Plockton to eat at a nice seafood restaurant. Before eating, we went for a short hike up to a local high point to see if we could spot any wildlife. We saw some seals and grey herons, but no otters…yet.

The restaurant we ate at was super tasty. We learned what scallop rowe is, and Wife had some baby lobster/large crayfish that were called something I can’t remember because I’m writing this post weeks after these events happened. Why am I doing this? Well, it is at this restaurant where we probably caught Covid. I’ll spare most of the details, but basically some fat Yanks came in and coughed the entire time, and I knew something was up because the one fat fuck hardly touched his steak. Anyway, we’re all better now, but we definitely paid a price for this fun.
