At this point, I was REALLY smashing the biking. At the beginning of 2020, two friends and I, GMacAttack and TpineDaTroof, decided to have a “friendly” bike climbing competition. The rules were simple: climb climb climb, and the person who gained the most elevation at the end of the year would be declared the victor. Spoiler alert: I won. I won by a lot.

It was nice to have that competition going because it pushed me to explore different parts of the Wasatch that I probably wouldn’t have normally because they were huge bitches to climb. It sure was some good motivation — thanks dudes!

Anyway, July was the last month that we’d be relatively safe in Utah. July 4 started a covid explosion that wouldn’t end until March. I’m waiting for the final studies, but I estimate that half of Utah had contracted covid at some point by April 2021. Half. Every other.
