Welp, I’ll go into detail below, but we don’t have our bags. We actually don’t even really know where they are. We might not see them again. RIP clothes.
Anyway, hello, faithful readers. So we decided to go to Switzerland and have a real, proper vacation. Bae has a very good friend (who is now a good friend of mine) who lives there. ALSO, my parents just happened to be there because they were helping one of their friends swim the entire length of Lake Geneva (loco AF). We will meet up with them in a few days.
So how did the traveling go? Well, traveling by plane is never fun for all sorts of reasons, but this time we fell victim to the whole “sorry, we don’t have your bag” trick. It has been a very long time since I’ve lost my luggage on a flight. In fact, I can’t even remember the last time. I had a close call once when our plane was overweight, and I watched them send my bag outside with the intention of leaving it. However, we happened to be flying with a group of singers (The King’s Singers, as they were called), and they threw a fit and picked my bag to go back in along with theirs. That was pretty cool.
Anyway, I digress. Our plan was to fly out from BWI, transfer in Iceland (Keflavik), and then arrive in Zurich. Well, our plane was very late getting out of BWI. Fortunately, we predicted that this was going to happen, so we made sure to secure a 4 hour layover in Iceland. This turned into a 3 hour layover, and apparently in their rush to get connecting bags on to the plane, they just left ours somewhere. That’s our guess, though. Since they haven’t been located yet, we aren’t really sure what happened.
The flights themselves were fine, and we even had a fairly easy time going through passport control in Iceland. If it weren’t for the missing bag part, I would highly recommend going through there when going to Europe. Unfortunately, there isn’t much to see outside the window, especially on rainy day.
I don’t have much to say about the flights other than that on the flight to Zurich, I just watched a ton of “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia”. That show is funny as hell.
We got to spend all kinds of time in Zurich waiting for our bags, and then going to file a claim about them being missing. This caused us to just miss the next train to Bern, so to kill time, we went to H&M so I could get some clothes. We packed some clothes in our carry on, but likely not enough. I got a short and a shirt for just $25. Not too bad! We then hopped on the train to Bern to meet up with Betty! We were to stay with her and her lovey wife for a few nights.
There’s not too much more to say other than that I really hope we see our bags at some point. Here’s another picture I took:
