We started this day with another fantastic nature walk up the hill behind Betty and Michelle’s house. Here’s the Garmin for that, and some sweet pictures:
When we got back from this lovely walk, we still hadn’t heard about the bags. At this point, we had been in Switzerland for nearly 48 hours. Good thing I bought those sweet shorts from H&M.
At this point, not knowing when our bags were going to show up was injuring our plans. Betty suggested we go do a day trip to Blausee, and she would wait around for the bags. This was VERY nice of her. So we quickly got our stuff packed and got ready to leave. RIGHT before we left, guess what showed up? THEM BAGS!!!!!!
We didn’t have time to change. We just tossed them bags into our room and caught the bus to the train station, where we took a regional train to Blausee.
To get around Switzerland, we each purchased one of these Swiss Passes, which is a pass designed for tourists. It gives you unlimited travel on all trains and most busses, as well as museum discounts. It is not cheap, but neither is paying full price for these travel tickets. As long as you do at least a round trip on a regional train, it is worth paying for.
Anyway, since our bags had arrived, we could finally put these passes to work. Blausee is a cool little lake at the base of the Alps. It’s a little touristy, but it was fun to go see the trout farm and alpacas. They grow some mutant trout at this place. See the photos below:
We then went behind the lake and went on a walk a few miles uphill to Kandersteg, where we took the train home. Here’s the Garmin for that so you can see where we went. Some photos of the view:
From Kandersteg we took the train back home to Bern where we put on some NEW CLOTHES FROM OUR BAGS. Great day!
