Alas, our time at our VRBO came to a close. After cleaning the entire place (which apparently isn’t covered by the cleaning fee), we set off on our slow journey back to Barcelona. We were in no rush, so we stopped at a few places along the way, starting at Peñiscola.

Unofficial logo of Peñiscola by {REDACTED}:

While we weren’t necessarily planning on stopping there, we absolutely could not. This place was WAY too busy when we rolled through around noon. It made us very grateful for our VRBO location above the much smaller town of Alcossebre. Fortunately Bae was able to snipe this photo of the Game of Thrones castle:

From Peñiscola, we headed to Tarragona. When I asked my friend, who is from that area, what we should do in Tarragona, his response was, “Well, there’s all types of old Roman ruins, and I know how much you Americans love that shit”. He was not wrong. We parked at the top of the hill, then hiked through some of the old walled city, eventually arriving at the Coliseum located on the coast. The garmin for the hike:

And some images:

It was pretty cool seeing the sights, but man, it was hot…again.

After being tourists, we continued to our hotel near the Barcelona airport, which had a nice rooftop pool and spot to get dinner.
