OK, so funny story about this day, but first, some context.

Our major reason for visiting Switzerland was to visit Betty. However, we decided on this particular time to visit Switzerland because my parents were also going to be in France, just south of Lake Geneva. Now, what were they doing here? Goooooooood question! My mom’s friend was SWIMMING the LENGTH of Lake Geneva. Yeah, that is indeed like 45 miles. I could do an entire blog post about this, but if you want to find out more about these types of swims, here you go: https://marathonswimmers.org/

Anyway, my parents were brought on the team to help out with snacks, and my Dad kayaked during the night for like 12 hours to keep her on track. I think the swim took like 36 hours, or something.

So why was this day funny? Well, we decided to meet them in Lausanne, which was just across the lake from where they were staying. We weren’t sure if we had been there before on our last trip. Instead of reading the blog, we just assumed we hadn’t, and met up with them.

As we’re walking around the city, Ikumi and I are seeing some things that seem familiar. We were pretty sure we had been to the Olympic Museum grounds, for example, but they looked just different enough for us to doubt ourselves. It didn’t help that it was a rainy morning. Anyway, we went the entire day thinking we hadn’t been to this place until we got home later and checked the 2018 blog. These quaint European cities just start to blend together after a while!

We started our day in Lausanne at the Olympic Museum. Lausanne is the HQ for the international olympic committee. Now, we hadn’t been inside the museum before, so that was new! And they had some new stuff on the grounds. Here are a few photos:

Dragon Ball Z
Really cheap merchandise.

The rain finished just as we ended our tour of the museum. We then went and explored the rest of the town, where Ikumi and I received more flashbacky deja vu feelings of, “wait, haven’t we been here before?”

My Mom
Hey…where did you get that???
We joined a climate protest. Fuck you, Al Gore.
